Get ready — what you need

Just a pencil, a sheet of paper, and some crayons or colored pencils. That's it!

💡 Tip: Take your time and have fun. Every drawing is special!

1

Start with two guide shapes

Step 1 of 6: how to draw a kitten — start with two guide shapes

First draw two light helper shapes to plan the pose: a round circle near the top for the head, and a big oval under it for the body. Draw them very lightly — these are just guides you will trace over next.

💡 Tip: Two light shapes make the whole cat much easier to draw — real artists start this way!

2

Trace the cat's body

Step 2 of 6: how to draw a kitten — trace the cat's body

Now trace around your two guide shapes to draw the whole cat: two pointy ears on top of the head circle, then down around the body oval, and add a curvy tail on the side.

💡 Tip: Trace slowly along your guides — pointy ears and a round body make it a cat!

3

Add ears and eyes

Step 3 of 6: how to draw a kitten — add ears and eyes

Draw a little line inside each ear, then add two round eyes on the face. Keep the eyes near the middle of the head.

💡 Tip: Two round eyes make the kitten look sweet!

4

Draw the nose and mouth

Step 4 of 6: how to draw a kitten — draw the nose and mouth

Between the eyes, draw a small triangle nose, and under it a little curvy mouth like a 'w'. Meow!

💡 Tip: A little nose and mouth give the cat a sweet face!

5

Add the whiskers

Step 5 of 6: how to draw a kitten — add the whiskers

On each side of the face, draw a few long whiskers going outward. Whiskers are what make it a cat!

💡 Tip: Long whiskers make your kitten look real!

6

Color your cat!

Step 6 of 6: how to draw a kitten — color your cat

Color your cat gray, orange, or any color you like! Make the inside of the ears warm, the nose pink, and the eyes dark. Your kitten is done!

💡 Tip: Add some stripes if you want a tabby cat! 🐱
